Howard Dean/Health Care Bill

Howard Dean has an idea what to do with the Senate’s compromised health care bill: shove it up Harry Reid’s butt. “If I were a senator, I would not vote for the current health-care bill,” Dean said in a Washington Post Op-Ed. “Any measure that expands private insurers’ monopoly over health care and transfers millions of taxpayer dollars to private corporations is not real health-care reform. Real reform would insert competition into insurance markets, force insurers to cut unnecessary administrative expenses and spend health-care dollars caring for people. Real reform would significantly lower costs, improve the delivery of health care and give all Americans a meaningful choice of coverage. The current Senate bill accomplishes none of these.”
The key words there are “If I were a senator.” I love it when guys who are out of office start talking about what they’d do if they were in office. Gosh, that Howard would be quite a firebrand…if he were in office. If only he were in office, he would really kick some ass up there on Crapitol Hill. Of course, if Dean were in office, he would be just like all the other Democrats who are in office: a whimpering candy-ass with a “Kick Me” sign on his back. I like Howard, and I’m glad he’s speaking out, but I don’t buy for a second that he’s the man to shake up Washington. It’s easy to have balls when you’re not worried about re-election.
